RESEARCH
Funded Research:
Correlation between amount of smoking and severity of cervical dysplasia 07/04 – 07/05 ACOG/Cytyc Research Award for Cervical Cancer Screening ($15,000)

Principal Investigator A cross-sectional study to determine the association between smoking frequency and intensity with cotinine and nicotine levels in the urine and cervical mucus, and to correlate these levels with dysplasia severity
at time of presentation.

Ongoing Research:
07/05 – 07/08
Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Chapel Hill, NC Principal Investigator A review of all patients with uterine sarcoma treated at UNC Chapel Hill during the years 1980-2005. Specific research aims include to describe patterns of recurrence and to determine the impact of adjuvant radiation on disease-free and overall survival.
