This ovarian adenocarcinoma
is completely solid and almost "rubbery" in texture. It
is well circumscribed with "pushing" rather than "infiltrating"
margins. As cancers develop in the ovary they tend to replace all
normal ovarian tissue. These cancers tend to involve both ovaries
early in their course. For this reason, both ovaries need to be removed
as part of the initial surgery (with the exception of some very rare situations). |
